On Tuesday, June 18, 2025, the Durham EMS community suffered a heartbreaking loss.
Whitney Rodgers—a faithful paramedic and beloved friend—died unexpectedly, leaving behind family, friends, and coworkers who are still reeling from the shock.
Now, in the midst of their grief, Whitney’s loved ones are also facing unexpected expenses: travel, lodging, meals, and funeral costs. They’ve also taken in her cherished dog, Brody—adding another layer of responsibility and care.

Through our Stand in the Gap Fund, Emergency Chaplains is providing immediate, short-term financial support to ease the burden on Whitney’s family. Your gift will bring tangible relief during these painful days—allowing them to focus on what matters most: grieving, remembering, and honoring her life.
