Ralph and Carter Thompson are the founders of Emergency Chaplains.

In 1998, while Ralph was a successful agent with Farm Bureau Insurance, Ralph and Carter sensed that the Lord was calling them to full-time vocational ministry.

He left the insurance business and enrolled at Southeastern College at Wake Forest while Carter went looking for a job to support the family.

While at Southeastern, Ralph offered to serve as a volunteer staff member at Bethesda Baptist Church in 1998.  He moved from volunteer to intern, to part-time and then to full-time.  He was blessed to serve at Bethesda from 1998-2008.

While serving as an Associate Pastor at Bethesda Baptist, Ralph volunteered as a Fire Chaplain at Bethesda Fire and Rescue.  Later, he was asked to help with bringing a chaplaincy program to Durham County EMS.

In 2008, God redirected Ralph and Carter's path --again.  Just like 10 years prior, they were quite content where they were but God had something different...and bigger for them to do.

With that 'redirection', Emergency Chaplains was born.  God has given Ralph and Carter a great burden for serving the Public Safety community and it is their desire to take the love of Jesus Christ to them and to the people they serve.

Currently, Ralph serves as Executive Director/President while Carter is Secretary of the corporation.

Ralph handles the day-to-day duties of the chaplaincy while Carter completes her Master's degree and provides counseling for females and families that request our services.
